The UAE is set to experience unsettled weather conditions throughout the week leading up to and including Christmas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Showers are expected in several areas due to the movement of a low-pressure system, with conditions likely to remain unstable until at least Thursday.
Over the weekend, heavy rainfall affected parts of the country, with Ras Al Khaimah experiencing significant downpours, particularly in areas such as Al Dhaid and Digdagga. Videos shared by Storm Centre, a weather-focused social media platform, captured intense rain on Jebel Jais and other areas of the northern emirate.
Temperatures have dropped noticeably with the arrival of winter. The NCM reported a low of 4.8°C in Raknah, Al Ain, on Sunday—a region known for its freezing winter temperatures, having previously recorded lows of -5°C in 2021.
The NCM’s five-day forecast predicts mostly fair to partly cloudy skies for Monday, with occasional clouds and light rain over northern and coastal areas. Winds from the northwest to northeast could reach speeds of up to 40kph, while the Arabian Gulf may see moderate to rough seas.
On Christmas Eve, Tuesday, similar conditions are expected, with a chance of light rain. Seas are anticipated to be moderate but may turn rough by early Wednesday morning in the Arabian Gulf.
For Christmas Day, December 25, clouds are forecasted over islands, coastal regions, and parts of the north and east, bringing a “probability of rainfall.” Daytime temperatures in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to range between 24°C and 26°C, while evening temperatures may dip below 20°C.
These conditions follow a series of recent showers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with rain reported last Wednesday and the week prior. Residents should prepare for continued cool and occasionally wet weather as the festive week unfolds.
