Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Managing Director and Group CEO of M42, highlighted that the UAE’s healthcare system has become a global leader in preventive medicine. He attributed this achievement to the country’s advanced hospitals, cutting-edge robotic technologies, groundbreaking genomic research, and AI-powered healthcare infrastructure, driven by the vision and leadership of the UAE.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Nowais emphasized M42’s collaboration with government entities to revolutionize healthcare through data-driven analysis, early detection of health risks, and faster, cost-effective treatments. He underscored M42’s commitment to shifting from traditional treatment approaches to a proactive, prevention-based model, which prioritizes healthy ageing, improved quality of life, and sustainable healthcare practices.
“For meaningful and lasting advancements in human longevity, we must focus on precision, preventive, and predictive medicine,” Al Nowais stated. He stressed the importance of early disease detection, requiring the adoption of AI, genomic science, and strategic collaborations to build a sustainable healthcare system.
Al Nowais highlighted M42’s innovations in AI and genomics that are transforming healthcare and advancing preventive, personalized care. Among these is Med42, an open-source large clinical language model, and AIRIS-TB, an AI-powered system capable of processing 2,000 chest X-rays daily to combat tuberculosis—far surpassing the 200-daily capacity of conventional methods.
AI has also enhanced the accuracy of endoscopic procedures, improving the early detection of abnormalities and cancer. Additionally, Al Nowais pointed to the Omics Centre of Excellence, which supports genomic research initiatives like the UAE Genome Programme, driving forward precision medicine and proactive health management.
These advancements reflect the UAE’s pioneering approach to healthcare, setting new standards in preventive medicine and ensuring better outcomes for individuals both locally and globally.
