Free Style Show Kicks Off Tomorrow at Liwa International Festival
The Liwa International Festival 2025, Abu Dhabi’s premier winter destination, is set to launch tomorrow with its highly anticipated opening event, the Free Style Car Show.
Held at the iconic Moreeb Dune arena under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the festival is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the Liwa Sports Club.
The 23-day event promises an exciting mix of entertainment, culture, and adventure. The Free Style Car Show, which kicks off on Friday and runs for two days from 6:00 pm to midnight, will feature over 130 cars across various categories. Drivers will showcase their skills with signature moves such as “Al-Okda,” “Al-Khaba,” and precision-controlled drifts.
Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Liwa Sports Club, described the Free Style Show as the ideal start to the festival, stating: “Moreeb Dune stands as a unique sports and tourism landmark that draws thousands of participants and visitors from across the globe each year.”
He added: “Our aim is to promote Al Dhafra as a leading tourism and sports destination, blending thrilling adventure sports with cultural heritage activities. The grand finale, the Moreeb Dune Climb, remains the pinnacle of the festival.”
Al Qubaisi also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, highlighting the UAE leadership’s role in elevating the festival as a platform that enhances the country’s status as a global cultural and tourism hub.
Running from 13th December 2024 to 4th January 2025, the Liwa International Festival will feature a wide range of competitions, including the Moreeb Dune Climb, car and bike races, as well as traditional activities such as camel racing and falconry, offering an unparalleled experience for visitors.
