UAE’s Rayan Ahmed wins Yas Links Men’s Open

UAE: Rayan Ahmed has pledged to keep “going low” after clinching his first Emirates Golf Federation (EF) Men’s Open title at Yas Links Abu Dhabi.

The 18-year-old, currently ranked 875th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), opened with a sensational six-under-par 66, highlighted by a scorching front nine of 30.

He followed it up with a steady 73 in challenging, windy conditions as the long Yas Links course showed its teeth.

That saw the 2024 GCC Golf Championship winner finish with a 36-hole total of 5 under, three clear ahead of Oscar Craig, the stepson of World No. 10 Tommy Fleetwood, who carded rounds of 72 and 70, the latter being the best score of the day in the second round.

“I am really happy with the win,” Ahmed told.

“The last few months have been transformative. I have put so much effort into my mental game, my strength training and technical elements.

“2025 is my year, I am going to make my mark with a lot of big tournaments coming up. I really like where my golf and mental side is. All I am focused on is scoring, going low, challenging myself and fighting harder.”

In the Ladies’ Division, Sana Tufail (EGF) secured a dominant victory with rounds of 73 and 72, finishing with a one-over-par total of 145. She ended the tournament eight strokes ahead of runner-up Hamda Al Suwaidi (EGF).
