Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, marked his Accession Day with a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, whom he described as “the most beautiful thing” in his life, his “greatest supporter,” and the “soul of Dubai.” Nineteen years ago, on January 4, 2006, Sheikh Mohammed became the Ruler of Dubai. However, for the humble leader, January 4 is not about him.
This year, he chose to celebrate the special day by honoring his wife — his “companion and backer in life” and the “mother of sheikhs.”
“Sheikha Hind is one of the most compassionate, generous, and charitable people. She is the pillar of my home, the foundation of my family, and my greatest supporter throughout my career,” said Sheikh Mohammed, who also serves as Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
Overflowing with gratitude, Sheikh Mohammed prayed for God to “keep their love alive.” He expressed his wishes for her happiness, saying, “My biggest wish, Hind, is that God protects you and makes you happy. You are the beginning of life and the most beautiful thing in it. You are the soul of Dubai, its pulse, and its joy.”
A heartfelt poem accompanied his tribute. Known for his love of poetry, Sheikh Mohammed shared a composition dedicated to Sheikha Hind.
“There’s no one like you to me,” the Arabic poem read. “No matter what happens, you will always remain the same, the most precious of humans. You are my first dream; the letters of your name hold a secret in my heart.”
He concluded his message with a call for loyalty, urging everyone “to be loyal to those who deserve loyalty, to our companion on the path, and our support in this life.”
