Dubai, Saturday — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled the ‘Dubai Walk’ initiative, a transformative project designed to make the city more pedestrian-friendly while enhancing quality of life and encouraging healthier lifestyles.
The ambitious plan includes the development of 3,300 kilometers of pedestrian pathways, supported by the construction of 110 pedestrian bridges and tunnels. The project will also establish an integrated network of walking routes featuring 112 kilometers of waterfront promenades, 124 kilometers of green trails, and 150 kilometers of rural and mountainous paths.
“Our vision is to redefine mobility and quality of life,” Sheikh Mohammed shared on his X account during the announcement. “We are creating a city that offers residents the best, happiest, and healthiest lifestyle.”
In alignment with this vision, Dubai is set to expand its transportation options significantly. Residents will benefit from an interconnected network that includes walking and cycling paths, extended road systems, metro expansions, water taxis, and even flying taxis operating on designated air routes.
The ‘Dubai Walk’ initiative is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to foster a vibrant, sustainable, and innovative urban environment, prioritizing well-being and mobility for its residents and visitors alike.
