278,000 residents, visitors from diverse backgrounds join celebration of well-being
Dubai: A record-breaking 278,000 participants from diverse backgrounds took part in the iconic Dubai Run, transforming Sheikh Zayed Road into the world’s largest running track. The event, held this morning, was a celebration of health and well-being, led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE.
In a post on his X account, Sheikh Hamdan shared a video of the run and expressed his gratitude, saying: “278,000 runners. Thank you Dubai for making a lifetime of memories.” This year’s turnout marked a 23% increase from last year’s edition.
Sheikh Hamdan praised the event, stating, “Dubai Run is a testament to the power of community and the determination of the people of the city to lead healthier and more active lives. Today’s event reflects the city’s energy, its relentless pursuit of excellence, and the community’s growing commitment to fitness and well-being. The response to this event also underscores Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most active cities and a leader in promoting a healthy lifestyle.”
He added, “We thank everyone who participated in this challenge and contributed to its remarkable success. Together, we are building a healthier, happier, and more connected society while setting an example for future generations. Events like Dubai Run reaffirm our commitment to enhancing the city’s quality of life and ensuring Dubai remains the world’s best city to visit and live in.”
As part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the city buzzed with excitement as participants gathered early in the morning to take part in the highly anticipated event. Runners lined up near the Museum of the Future for the 5km and 10km races. Among the diverse participants were people of determination, those with disabilities, fitness groups, families, friends, and people of all ages, all united in creating lasting memories and celebrating the city’s vibrant community spirit.
